Electricity is becoming a bottleneck for AI data center expansion, prompting Peak XV Partners to lead a $15 million Series A funding round in Indian startup C2i Semiconductors. The company is focused on creating plug-and-play, system-level power solutions to reduce energy loss in data centers. Currently, inefficient power conversion causes 15% to 20% of energy waste in data centers. C2i estimates its integrated platform can reduce end-to-end losses by approximately 10%, equivalent to saving about 100 kilowatts per megawatt of power consumed, thereby improving the overall economics of data centers. The startup, founded by former Texas Instruments executives, expects to complete manufacturing of its initial chips for customer validation by mid-year.
